A storm that amounted to nothing

We were woken up from a sound sleep this morning by outrageously loud thunder and streaks of lightening that easily lit up our bedroom at 3:30 am. Gabe was fine and had been starting to wake up on his own but my night owl ass was suffering and needed to go back to sleep after seeing him off to work. That man sleeps half of what I do sometimes and still has more energy; I don't know how he does it. Not that he wasn't tired; poor guy worked 16 hours yesterday. His boss is an asshole to put it plainly who dumps so many of his responsibilities onto him. I thought maybe at least it wouldn't be so hot today but it's still 95°. It got hot again as soon as the rain stopped and the clouds cleared up. My sister didn't have an easy time of it either; I'm grateful every Summer my work has air conditioning. It's funny to me how it seemed awful at first but in reality only rained about 15 minutes. I guess it's better than nothing but we need more to really cool things off. I was also thinking a bit about the class reunion we went to the other night and how it was a better experience than I expected. It was a chance for Gabe to meet a few of my friends he hadn't before; some of them moved quite far away and for obvious reasons don't come back home very often. One of my best friends met him for the first time and they ended up talking about "Lord of the Rings" which brought me so much happiness. She and I were 2 of the few girls in our class who love LOTR and it was wonderful to see them bonding. He definitely passes the friend test. ❤️❤️ I guess that's enough for now.
